I'm a gardener with no bonsai experience. In June of 2000 my family took a
vacation to Florida and somewhere along the way at a roadside stand I
bought
two small citrus plants, a lime and an orange. Fast forward to 2004, they
orange is now about 3 feet tall and the lime about 4 feet. As I live in a
cold climate (southwest Missouri) I've been moving them in & out of the
house as winter approached each year. As they continued to grow over the
years, I've been potting them up into progressively larger containers, and
they are now in 20 inch pots and will need to be potted up again next
Spring. Rather than keeping them as large specimens, and owing to the
fact
that I've always been a bit intrigued by bonsai, I was wondering if they
would even make good candidates. If they would, what would be the first
steps to make the transition. Is there anything I can do now to them?
Hopefully there is something that I can do now to reduce their size, as my
dear wife is growing increasingly jittery about them entering the house
once
again in all their impressive size . Thank you for any advice.
