Chicory
Leaf Chicory (Witloof) resembles Cos lettuce, but is somewhat shorter.
The narrow leaves and broad stalks are used in salads.
Root Chicory (Magdeburgh) is harvested in October and can be stored
until Spring.
The roots are often used as a coffee substitute when roasted.
Sow the Witloof variety indoors in May. The tops grow rapidly, and
resemble smooth dandelion leaves.
Leaf stalks are used for greens.
Maturity : 65 -110 days.
