Turnips
These can be sown as soon as the ground is workable, ¼ inch deep.
Keep well mulched and maintain moderately sweet soil, adding
agricultural lime as necessary around the base of the plant.
Water the lime in.
By late August, pinch out the growth tip of the plants to allow the
globes to fully develop.
Frost enhances flavor!
