Home Grown Super Seedlings and Transplants

If you purchase plants such as tomatoes and peppers from your
local garden center or greenhouse, you're missing out on much of
the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from raising your own
homegrown seedlings. You'll also never see the truly amazing
variety of plant choices that are available to you from specialty
seed suppliers. Finally, you won't get to experience the
remarkable performance advantages that you can obtain from
transplants that are raised under the ideal growing conditions
that you can easily provide.

It really doesn't take much effort to raise your very own super
seedlings in the convenience of your basement, or any spare room
in your home. The essential component is a good light source to
promote the strong and healthy growth of your seedlings.
Fa****oning a suitable light source can be as simple as using an
ordinary shop light that is fitted with a pair of fluorescent
grow lights. Combine your light setup with growing containers, a
soil-less growing mix, seeds, and you have everything that you
need to produce pampered plants that will outperform any
neglected, stressed, or root bound seedling that you can buy from
your local garden center.

Maybe your garden center or greenhouse is above average and
produces great plants, but how can you be sure? How do you know
that the plants you're eyeing haven't suffered through rough
handling and exposure to widely fluctuating temperatures while in
transit from the grower to the retailer? Do you know what types
of fertilizers the grower used, and how often they were applied?
How do you know if the plants have been subjected to periods of
under or over watering? Were the plants grown to meet your
transplanting timetable, or to suit the grower's schedule? How do
you know whether the transplants were properly acclimated for the
transition from the greenhouse to your garden?

These are just a few of the factors that can impact a seedlings
performance after it has been transplanted into your garden. By
growing your own transplants, these factors are completely under
your control and you won't be left to wonder about the conditions
that they were grown under.

I'm not condemning commercially grown transplants, which will
grow just fine in your garden. But can you honestly imagine that
any mass-produced, factory grown seedling could even come close
to matching the performance of your very own transplants that
have been carefully raised and nurtured from day one of their
existence? I want you to realize that growing your own
transplants can be easy, fun, and result in plants that you can
trust were raised and cared for properly, and that will provide
you with exceptional performance when transplanted into the
garden.

Another good reason to raise your own plants is to exercise
control over the varieties that are available to you. Have you
ever seen a Purple Calabash tomato, Chinese Giant peppers, or
Rosa Bianca eggplant for sale at your local garden center? I
doubt it, but these are just a few of the gorgeous and delicious
vegetable varieties that are perfect for the home gardener.

There are hundreds of uncommon varieties of fruits and vegetables
that are tastier and also more attractive than the every day
varieties that you've become accustomed to growing year after
year. But the only way to experience and enjoy them is to grow
your own. The good news is that it's not difficult at all, and in
addition to gorgeous produce with unbelievable flavors, you also
get the satisfaction and improved performance from raising your
very own super transplants from seed.
