Crops to Grow in Shade

Cabbage, green beans, and sweet potatoes will grow well under a tree.
Consider planting them even in a flower bed around the trunk of a tree
for a different look. Flowers mixed in with veggies make a highly
attractive display!

Kale, being in the cabbage family is highly decorative in a flower
bed.

Parsley is also, and if the soil is poor, you can plant parsley in a
container, and place it in the flower bed for a striking display!. The
curly-leaved and open-leaved varieties are both quite attractive.

Carrots can also be planted in the shady area under the tree, but
don’t expect much of a carrot. Grow it here for the lovely foliage,
which looks great mixed with flowers as well. The foliage can also be
dried and used in sauces, soups, stews, etc...
