Best started indoors where seasons are relatively short, but may be
sown directly by mid-May.
Keep plants about two feet apart. As sprouts begin to form at the base
of the plant, remove the lower leaves and stems to allow the sprouts
to develop. Pinch off the growing point at the top of the plant about
mid-September to encourage rapid development of upper sprouts.
Brussels sprouts are not harmed by light frosts, and in fact, their
flavor is improved by it.
Each plant should produce about one pound of sprouts.
Rotate the crop location every year.
