Cabbage
For winter keepers and late heads, you're best to start off the seed
indoors or buy established young plants for direct transplanting
Summer cabbage and early heads may be sown directly at a depth of ¼
inch, spaced about 1 ½ feet apart.
Start sowing between May 20th and June 10th. If starting indoors, sow
in early February up to March 15th.
Time to maturity is 66-95 days.
Hot Water Treatment:
Cabbage and other hard-seeded varieties may be treated in hot water @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
* F for 25 minutes.
This treatment limits the possibility of seed-borne diseases on the
seed coat.
Late-Storage Green Cabbage:
For proper head maturity, seed should be started in cold frames or hot
beds by the first week of May, or sown directly outside before May
20th.
Seed sown after June 1st will usually provide a high percentage of
small heads when Fall conditions are damp and cold.
Heads don't usually start forming until mid-to-late August, but
they'll triple in size in the Fall if normal conditions prevail.
This type is usually harvested in late October.
Maturity time is 90-99 days.

to frost time.
Chinese Cabbage can be sown directly outside in early Spring, up to
August for a second or late crop.
Days to maturity: about 78
