Saving $ with sod...

by NOspam@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Mar 18, 2007 at 11:27 AM

Saving money with sod!

Here’s a neat trick for starting off cucumbers, melons, etc. which can
be hard to transplant if the roots are disturbed.

Cut a good thick piece of sod out of a field. Cut the piece into
squares, and turn the grass side down.

Place the seeds into these ‘starter pots’! After the seeds have
germinated, and the plant has started to forms it secondary leaves,
transplant it to the garden or container grass ball and all!

The grass being on the underside will decompose, further feeding the
plant as it develops.
