Once in suburban Sydney the circus came to town with elephants.  After it
had
gone they were lining up with their wheelbarrows, some almost came to
blows.
The local paper ran an article on wonderous properties of elephant dung! 
Of
course nobody did any comparison of results with (say) horse manure and
most
of those gardens had not been manured in living memory, so the good growth
they got was clearly a result of the amazing properties of the elephant's
bum.

I think that the dung is much like that other large heribovores.  The
supposed
magical powers are due to some kind of tranferance because of their size
and
the size of the balls of dung.  It's like tiger ***** soup, by consuming
the
most potent part of a powerful animal we humans gain some of their power. 
Or
so we imagine.
