I've never ever seen a Grand Parade :-(  Never been in the right place at
the 
right time.

The new showground is still a bit too neat and clean, I feel -- not as
raffish 
as the old one.  The rural side still predominates, but if you liked, you 
could avoid it altogether by sticking to the rides, sideshow alley, the
rock 
venue (whatever it's called), the hoon bit in the main arena and the
showbags 
-- but that wouldn't be much fun.

We didn't have enough time to do all the things we usually do, and are 
planning to take a full day next year.  DS2 will be nearly four then --
we've 
taken short days because we thought a whole day might be too much for a
little 
bloke, but I think he liked the Show even more than DS1!

DS1 was in tears at the prospect of the fireworks.  He likes the display,
but 
hates the noise.  After they were over, however, he decided that he didn't

mind them so much, and brought home a lovely painting of fireworks from 
school.  I must admit I didn't think the fireworks were too wonderful this

year (nice, but a dog's breakfast in terms of design), and I find the
laser 
stuff quite forgettable.
