i don't know if I'm really that fastidious or just prepared to pitch it
a little bit. One particular place in East Sus*** is turning up a whole
lot of "cousins" on both sides of the gutter.

I always take the view that it is an evolving who dun-it affair. You
enter what you have and note evidence that sup****ts it or contradicts it
and just re-check it as time goes by. People get what they want from it
I guess.

Some areas are dead set easy and other; shudder.

Well, that has been my break. First, I had a web page summaries and
interactive server that people could look at and I made a few contacts a
decade a go, then you get a drought, then a flood and forever wonder if
you've followed everything up.

Now, I skim a pile of Rootsweb name and regional lists, Lot of
irrelevant chaff, but an occassional seed.

Family search.org has been helpful sometimes, but you have to watch the
"contributions"

Funnily. lists on rootschat.com have been very useful for Sus***, but
zilch for anything else. benn interesting as people have found the
"parish lists" for stuff that ended up on Familysearch and that often
gave three generations at church, very helpful.

These pay to search peoples trees places are a major pain and I avoid
them entirely. Too many of them were great at matching my tree with "my
tree" deerrr, really helpful. Or stuff like, every Collins in Great
Britan. Yer, right.

Err, there is always some one worse off and that was my wife; Davies in
Wales, until out of the blue, someone said, Oh, that ties to mine.
Stroke of luck.

research

My priorities are to work on the shortest branch/limb/stub, with a view
that maybe time will uncover more information on the brick walls.

One of my get-around-to-its is to list my brick walls with whatever
information "we" have uncovered on a web page and hope that one of us in
a bit of browsing, whatever, has a serendipitous moment, or whatever.

I sort of accept that some lines are just going to end because "records"
were never made or they have disappeared. Since basically all my lines
were all UK and early leavers, their BDM are not much help and early
census can be very patchy, so unless they went to church and the records
survived, the only hope of any clue might come from other old do***ents.

Interestingly, the somerset line is suppossed to have come from Ireland
but I've never uncovered anything about how that is likely to have
occurred or when it may have occurred. Been very interesting to relate
ancestors movements to events in history, but on this one I have no clue.
