The "hothouse" ended up being much more complicated than I intended. 
That's because my engineer husband got involved.  I have an 8x8x4 box 
with one end on a hinge for access.  My plan was to just build a 4x4x4 
cube and have the man help me lift it and then lower it over the plants 
in question, with a plan to prop up one corner for ventilation and/or 
watering access.

Hah.  Let an engineer get involved...

My neighbor across the fence was eyeballing it today, I'm sure she's 
planning to ask me if I have room for some of her patio plants...
