A low powered bb gun works great. You get to play a little, target
practice, it doesn't injure them ('cept for a bruise) and they eventually
get annoyed and go away. It works for pigeons, too.
We did that when I was a kid. It's how I learned to shoot, but not kill.
We'd also have neighborhood "wars" (perhaps they invented paintball
because
of us) when we'd put on two pair of blue jeans, leather jackets, boots,
hats
and goggles. We only had one "incident" when I was pinging away at the
door
of Rob's Dad's garden shed, about groin high, when Eric came running out
firing. First step and he was down. I guess two pairs of jeans aren't
enough to protect that particular area. After he stopped rolling on the
ground and got up, he said he'd forget it if I promised not to tell
everybody at school I'd shot him in the balls.
Hmm...I wonder if the bb guns on the market today are still weak
enough...might want to check that...
