Hello group,
I have these mysterious plants, trees, or weeds, growing in my yard. I
live in Alabama, they are perennial. Unfortunately, I don't have a
pic of the berries or pods that form on the tops of the stalks, wrong
time of the year.
My father knows the names of many trees, plants, etc... he can name
them at a glance most of the time. Every time he comes over to my
house he obsesses over what these may be. He keeps saying sassafras
but will then correct himself and say that sassafras has a rougher and
darker bark and mitten shaped, 3 fingered, or single leafs. The leafs
on this plant? have 5 fingers.
I told him, to save his sanity perhaps, that I would try my best to
help him identify them.
That is why I am here. I understand that many of you are more than
likely highly educated concerning matters like this.
Any help with a name for this would be appreciated. The pics aren't
the best in the world, but hopefully they will suffice. One last
thing, the abrasions you see on the stalk are where I have removed
limbs, it looks neater to me with growth only on the top. Normally,
the limbs start pretty low.
