Horticultural oil??? What is that? Is it only good for fungus?
I'm just starting some organic gardening and I could use some
good references for organic pesticides...got any?

It sounds like damping off, a fungal disease. Make sure the soil mix is=
moist,
not wet, and that there is good air circulation around it. You may spra=
y the
seedlings weekly with a Cornell formula:
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon oil (horticultural oil or "summer" oil is best)
1 gallon of water
2 drops dish wa****ng soap
