Thanks for the reply. The engine does have an oil filler cap
but it looks like it is to low down to be the engine sump.
More like for the main rotor bearing I would of thought
but I have no experience with lawn mower engines so what
do I know :-) I take your point about the previous owner
and I am 99% sure it is 4 stroke. I just had a niggling feeling
and wanted it checked out before I seized the engine up.
