In the UK not much top soil and lots of clay underneath
We have been attacked by ants who have invaded the grass. We can see them
and there are patches of top soil that has been pushed to the surface Dig
a
little into this surface soil and you can see ants scurrying around and
ant
eggs laid there.
I have injected some anti ant stuff 2 or 3 inches into the earth patches
(pushed the straw of the anti ant stuff in until it reached firm soil clay
underneath) and this is the stuff that ants will take back to the nest and
hopefully kill the ants there.
However I think I will loose the battle, Firstly there are quite a lot of
these earth mounds appearing in new places and in an area of a square yard
or so sort of in the middle of where the soil has been pushed to the
surface the grass is dying off as if it is a localised drought.
Does anybody have any ideas what I can do to get rid of these pests. I
was
wondering if there was a Verdone sort of thing you could spray onto the
grass from a watering can but instead of killing weeds selectively does
the
same but for ants.
ANY ideas at all will be most welcome.
Thanks
Andy
