Thanks Anthony and Mike.  They really are a bit of a bugger, get bitten to 
blazes sitting on the grass even if you sit where you dont think there are

any ants.

I have been using RAID crack and crevice crawley killer which you can
inject 
below the surface hopefully towards the nest.  The certainly do not like 
this stuff but I guess I am simply outnumbered.
