The normal advice regarding this weed is..... move!
My last allotment had it and I simply hoed it off, hoed it off, hoed it
off.... and it did weaken it after a few years but I never got rid of it
completely. I learnt to live with it.
It is covered with a waterproof skin (silica) so weedkillers don't do much
good, although I've heard some say walking over it to crush it before
spraying does work a bit better.
Digging it out is impossible as the black stringy roots go down so far.
