winter squash in Hawaii?

by lockhart@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Zach) Jul 30, 2004 at 05:23 PM

Heh, I didn't (don't?) know anything about squash, so I ordered some,
planted them, they're growing great, but started wondering as to what
kind of timeline I should expect the squash to be ripe or mature or
pickable or something.

In trying to figure that out, I discovered that some (maybe all) of
what I planted are winter squash. Heh. So I was wondering if that'll
work out?

Also, I had one split open this morning (last night I picked checked
it out, cleared a slug off of it, it looked fine, still on the vine
and everything). Was wondering if that indicated something? It
looked like it split on its own. Maybe it was ripe? I don't know how
to tell.

Thanks,

-Zach
