The red, squishy-bark trees in Kalopa?

by nobody@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Dan Birchall) Jul 31, 2004 at 04:37 AM

In Kalopa Native Forest State Park and Recreation Area near Honoka'a,
there's
a trail over to the gulch from the road near the entrance... lots of very
tall trees with reddish bark at the bottoms, and the bark is soft, almost
feels like cork. What are those? I'm guessing Ohia or Eucalyptus, but
I'm
not so good at trees. :)
