Yeah, my marigolds last year lasted fine while the pansies were eaten. I
had them surrounded by a good helping of mulch so the slugs would have
had a time getting to them. When I pulled up some early on, there was a
short fat grub of some sort in among the root. The marigold itself isn't
cut, it just dies...so I'm wondering if it was the grub munching off the
roots.
Next year, I'm taking some of my mother's sedum. There are two in there
now and whatever is munching on the marigolds isn't touching the sedums.
