To the OP: If there are ants in the house, there is food or food
particles keeping them fed. The ants do not eat wood, so they're not
there to munch on the studs. Your first priority is to clean the area
molly-maid spotless and see if they return next spring.
If they do then you need to find their nest. The most environmentally
friendly way to get rid of them is to make the home as inhospitable as
possible...that includes soaking the area repeatedly in water, digging
it up repeatedly etc.
Also, a half/half combination of baking soda and sugar will kill them
(the sugar attracts them, the baking soda makes them go boom) but
cleaning the place and attacking the nest should be tried first. (The
mixture will wash away in a rain).
The powders etc from Kent are useless. Don't waste any more money on them.
