Advice needed for running bamboo in NJ

by Inquisitive <savinelli@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 29, 2006 at 06:26 PM

Hello all,

I'm pretty new to bamboo, but am already obsessed. I have two clumps
that I harvested from a friend's yard, but their spreading has been slow
and need some quicker gratification.

My research so far has indicated that the following types of bamboo are
cold-hardy enough for NJ (Zone 5):

P. Aureosulcata
P. Angusta
P. Bissetii
P. Flexuosa
P. ****a
P. Atrovaginata (fka Congesta)

If I could have everything that I wanted, I would like the following, in
order of im****tance:

Running
Shade-tolerant
Visual barrier for pool area (I guess at least 8 feet tall)
Delicate leaves

I GREATLY appreciate any sage counsel!

TIA,
Christopher
