Banana skins are high in potassium (pot ash) which is the third value

on most fertilizer packages. (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium).
Potassium
is associated with root development. Although it might be a bit messy, I
don't see why you couldn't use banana skins as a natural source of K+ (the
symbol for Potassium). How are you planning to increase nitrogen and
phosphorus? Here is a interesting discussion on banana skins as compost.
