I'm no expert but the kind of plants in your garden would factor in... I 
grow mostly tropicals and semitropicals and those would like dripping.
My brother set up a drip system for my mom a year or two ago and her 
plants are loving it!

PS I'm going to add fuschias to my fern garden this year (when I find some

really pretty ones, the current offerings at the nurseries are ho-hum) and

will probably drip them and install a misting system too.
