Me!
I'm excited about my gardens. They are looking better than ever, and I'm
determined to keep up with fertilizer, water, and weeding to get the max
out
of it this year.
I've got herbs planted in a 3x4 raised bed plus several large flowerpots
(cilantro, 3 kinds of basil, italian parsley, rosemary, sage, 2 kinds of
oregano, 2 thymes, and new this year: lovage (tastes like celery leaves,
probably related), Hyssop (anise flavor, yum!), and a beautiful sorrel
plant
with large, green, red-veined leaves. Oh, and LOADs of argula, because I
adore it. I have a separate 3x4 bed of mint, because I use a LOT of it in
salads, Asian cooking, and, well, mojitos!
I've got two other raised beds of approx 8x12, and those are loaded up
with
varieties of peppers, eggplants, and heritage tomatoes from the wonderful
NC
Tomatoman, Craig Lehouillier. I get my plants from him every year, always
trying some different varieties as well as my annual favorites like Sun
Gold
Cherry and Aunt Ruby's Green tomatoes. Growing and eating them all summer
is
like having an endless big box of chocolates, except they're almost always
*wonderful* surprises.
Oh, and some okra (it's fab grilled), squash, and a cantaloupe (she says
hopefully, surveying her shady plot and rich soil). It all looks gorgeous,
especially since I added some flowers here and there, which really cheers
up
the garden a lot.
Happy digging to all!
Cheers
Sue
