6 beds now, 5 filled with compost.
First two plantings of sweet corn are germinating and going along.
Pumpkins are planted and putting out their second and 3rd true leaves.
Peanuts are planted in the bed that will be planted in asparagus
next year.

Our goal is to trim it down to just a small decorative patch of lawn
towards the entrance and for the dogs to play on in the back yard.
We're now trying to figure out what fruit trees we want in the front
yard.

Probably depends on your location.
I have a neighbor that sells mulch from his other parcel
about a mile up the road from me. I can move 10-30 cubic yards of
mulch on a gallon of gas.
Beyond that check the mulch places near you, see what you like,
and see who's ****pping for less than $4/gallon for the quantity you
need.
