You can blame Ana Burrows, aka Arcturus for naming Maxtor Maxtor.
She gave me the little monster in 2002.

Seagate is a compromise between my wife's naming convention and my own.
She likes giving her pets names related to the military, but they get
get a last name if it's a rank.  It was a good three months before
she realized I'd slipped in a harddrive brand.
"Squirrely Girl" got tacked on when we started watching the cat
do things that should violate the laws of physics...

There's also Colonel Owen, but he's now an old fart that doesn't
care that much for catnip.

We also have three dogs.

Duchess, the pitbull/hound thing we rescued in February.
Scout the Scufflewumpus, the australian shepherd/husky/glub knows
what else mix we got from one of Liz's cow-orkers.
Pathfinder Puppydog, the "pure bred lab/chow mix," and the other
old fart animal in the house.

If anyone can think of a Duchess that is somewhat responsible for
a devastating military cockup, Duchess will get a last name.

We also have what we deem to be an irrational number of fish.
Two tetras that are going into their 3rd year of life.
